A Little AbOut Me

I have been dabbling in the art world since I could hold a crayon. However, I also have a tendency to follow clear processes and think inside the box. I like creativity. . . but I also like order. While I can’t say I have totally figured out how my two mental worlds of spirit and rigidity coexist in every area of my life, when it comes to my place in the graphic design world, I have found it. Somewhere along the way I stopped the skill-talent-experience-comparison-game and asked myself “What is it that you can do? What is your style? What do you know?” 

And I found that I see things in nature in lines, so I hatch and cross-hatch when I draw. I found that I like the typography from decades long before my time, so I focus on those in my designs. I found that I can funnel the inspiration I feel when sitting on a rock by a flowing river into the work of my hands and it can bring people joy because other people also feel that way. I found that my rigidity can reign in my creativity and create some strong, timeless, and unique branding. I found that there is a call on my heart to create and serve others through it.

I have a Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from TN Tech and have been doing this for quite a few years now. I have worked for a range of industries doing many different types of graphic design work. Much of my portfolio is not found on this website; in fact, there is a whole allotment of my time each month that goes strictly to corporate graphic design. I like to do both, and I do it while raising my son as a stay at home mom, which is my most important call in this stage of life. What a wild, challenging, wonderful journey it is.
